HOW TO BURN UUNSI

Determine how your uunsi burns best based on what you want to accomplish. Do you want a slower burn or a faster burn? Either way,  uunsi will linger in your home or space long after it is burned. The more often you  burn uunsi, the greater the fragrance accumulates over time saturating your environment with gentle undertones that are subtly noticeable. You can use charcoal for generally faster release and a tealight candle with a potpourri or resin burner for a slower release. You can also use mini foil sheets on top of the charcoal to slow the burn for a slower release.

Note: You can even place a small chunk of uunsi on a piece of foil and place on the top of an electric stove (not gas). The stove should be on very low for a slow burn. Uunsi is flammable, so use caution and be sure the eye is on as low a temperature as what can work. This is not the recommended way to burn uunsi, but it does work.

Be creative as you develop your own ritual. You may enjoy the larger more dense size rocks. Or, you may decide to flatten a rock with the back or a spoon, or gently break it apart for smaller pieces. You decide what works best for you!

Never touch uunsi or the charcoal with your bare hands while burning. Use a knife or a fork to move uunsi or to add a new rock to a charcoal that is still hot (if you wish).

After burning and cooling, always clean your uunsi materials.

Enjoy your fragrance rocks and we hope to see you back for more!!

MEASUREMENT REFERENCES (For your convenience)

Please be mindful of the measurement amounts. For exact amounts of Uunsi, rely ONLY on the measurement in GRAMS (g). Other measurements are here to give you a visual frame of reference only, since many may be unfamiliar with grams.

150 grams is about 5.3 ounces.  This amount would almost fill up an 8 ounces measuring cup (1 cup) with medium sized rocks with air spaces in between. It is NOT a cup full of Uunsi, it is 3.5 ounces.

100 grams is about 3.6 ounces of Uunsi. If you have a 3/4 measuring cup, it will almost fill the cup. It will always depend on the size of the chunks and the air pockets. This depends on the size of the nuggets with air in between the space.

70 grams is about 2.5 ounces. This looks almost like it fills a 1/2 measuring cup three quarters of the way. So its bit less than what a 1/2 cup measures and of course this depends on the size of the chunks and the air space in between.

35 grams is about 1.75 ounces as a reference point. This amount will approximately fill a 1/4 measuring cup with air spaces.

Maintenance

Burners: To maintain your burners, wait until they are cool and pour a bit of water in the well, (or soak in water). Scrub gently when ready. Use of foil sheets will minimize cleaning.

Uunsi: Keep your Uunsi covered at all times and the lid closed. Over time, the fragrances get richer and cure. You will always be able to use your rocks.

Caution

Those who are asthmatic will need to avoid fast rock burns which distribute smoke in greater density, and opt for a slower, almost invisible, burn.
